AECP-Celebrations Stencil Technique

This is my first submission into the Altenew Educator Certification Program.  The Stencil Technique Class was so much fun and I learned several new tehniques.  The above cards were made using a cover die.  Choose one of your favorite cover dies and 110 lb cardstock. Cut as you normally do with your die cut machine. Then place it over another piece of cardstock and use it as a stencil.  I ink blended 2 colors of Distress Oxide inks and when finished I had 2 card fronts! Don't you love 2 for 1 techniques!

I started with 2 pieces of cardstock measuring 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. It is a good idea to tape your pieces together with low tack tape to keep them from slipping. I adhered my "stencil" piece directly to an A2 card.  I cut my second piece to 4 x 5 1/4, mounted to a matching blue shade of cardstock measuring 4 1/8 x 5 1/4 and then adhered that to an A2 card.

For the birthday card I stamped my sentiment and cupcake using Memento Black Ink.  The cupcake was colored using Copic markers.  For added dimension, I colored a second frosting piece and adhered it with foam squares. I also added some shine to my sentiment and frosting using Crystal Effects.

For this card, I added a few pearls, popped up my sentiment with foam squares and inked the edges. The sentiment is heat embossed using VersaMark Ink and black embossing powder.  It is hard to see in the photo, but the Japenese Mum (one of my favorites from Altenew) has some sparkle.  I applied this using Wink of Stella.

I look forward to creating more cards using the techniques and tips I am learning. And I look forward to sharing them with you.
