It has been a long winter here! I woke up to snow on the ground again! Next winter may be a time for travel to a warmer climate! This month's challenge at Altenew had me thninking of aldohol ink backgrounds. These backgrounds are so much fun to make, but can be alittle ovewhelming for card designs. I had four backgrounds made in no time at all. As you can see, I only used two of them for partial backgrounds.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0n3Z9ZM9GJzLaPGR09sYYswzdS1g_WSaKIub85_VhjLZYrPs50AVnjm_9PIN5frhajn1m4mzBLuPblY2VFkUoNlLt0tltmFDt0dWA2-Yn7fBkcf0yZhIiYcdRaT_10b2KzB5XKgXJKGttdPvB935YPYnzrc1xki96PrcHtuhnii-xv7gsUBwrcqbncA/s1980/2023-04-05%2009.11.27-2.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="320" data-original-height="1980" data-original-width="1575" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0n3Z9ZM9GJzLaPGR09sYYswzdS1g_WSaKIub85_VhjLZYrPs50AVnjm_9PIN5frhajn1m4mzBLuPblY2VFkUoNlLt0tltmFDt0dWA2-Yn7fBkcf0yZhIiYcdRaT_10b2KzB5XKgXJKGttdPvB935YPYnzrc1xki96PrcHtuhnii-xv7gsUBwrcqbncA/s320/2023-04-05%2009.11.27-2.jpg"/></a></div>
I chose a Poppy as my flower for this one. It was colored using alcohol markers.
When I showed my card to my husband, he thought I should use roses as that was the inspiration challenge photo. So, of course, I gave it a try.

The set I used was Antique Roses so I automatically thought vintage and thus the look for this card.

I have a few friends in mind that really love the vintage look, so this one will have a new home soon.

I think this is my favorite from today's sampling. And I have 2 more complete backgrounds to play with. This card has multiple layers but is still a simple layout. The flower is my attempt at watercoloring. I like the way it turned out.

These cards were made using the Altenew Ratton Stripes Die. I cut it from masking paper. The card on your left was inked using the main die cut and the card on your right used the strips left over from the main die cut.

I used Rhodolite Ink to ink blend the background. It doesn't show in the pictures, but the background is also spritzed with Altenew Antique Silver Ink Spray. The flowers were cut using Altenew Watercolor Garden Layering Die Set and inked using several blue shades of Altenew inks. I cut the leaves from the same set using some silver glitter paper from my endless stash.

Above is just a close up of the flowers. I did apply ink to white cardstock to achieve the perfect color for my sentiment.

I used the strips of masking paper from the die cut to mask off a pattern in the top left corner of this card and ink blended it. I then placed it in the Altenew Modern Squares Embossing Folder at an angle and ran it through my Platinum machine. I then lightly inked it for added interest. After playing around with several ideas, I discovered this element on my desk and thought it went well. It was created using bleach on colored cardstock- but that is for another blog post! I did cut a tiny strip of foil cardstock to tie the two areas together.
I hope this post encourages you to use your supplies in other ways!

Clean and simple was my mindset for this card. I covered a piece of white cardstock with the darker blue washi tape from this release. Using the Decorative Enamel Die Set, I cut 2 from the covered card stock. I also cut 2 from yellow cardstock. After adhering the 2 outline die cuts onto my card front, I inlaid the yellow pieces into the outline. This reminds me of putting a puzzle together and is very relaxing for me. I covered another piece of white cardstock with the washi tape and then embossed it with an embossing folder. The sentiment is from the Enamel Flowers Stamp set.

My next sample uses the Wild Geranium Layering Stamp Set. There is a die set to match this stamp set, but I did not use it for this card.

After stamping my images and my sentiment, I embossed the card front with the Organic Linen embossing folder. I left my stamps in the MISTI and stamped another card front in the same way. I then cut a frame from the second stamped piece and adhered it to the embossed piece with foam tape. A few black jewels finsih this card.

I used the Just Leaves die set from Altenew and the Organic Linen embossing folder from Altenew. The die is from the Friendly Florals set by Concord & 9th and yhe sentiment is from Tonic Studios. It is always nice when you can combine different sets and companies for a unique look!
Well, that's all for now, back to organizing!

Today,I am participating in a blog hop by Altenew. The craft industry has many outstanding companies with wonderful products! Altenew is by far, one of my favorites! The Foiled Marble Washi Tape is a great addition to any one's crafting stash.

I used the tape to cover my cardstock and then used the Layered Cityscape Cover Die B to cut my card front. I ink blended a light gray piece of cardstock to look like a cloudy sky, then stamped
a few gold stars and a gold greeting. To make my greeting stand out a little, I outlined it in black with one of the Altenew Fineliner pens.

I covered another piece of cardstock with the Foiled Marcle Washi Tape. I then paired it with a piece of black cardstock textured with the Organic Linen 3D Embossing Folder. My sentiment was cut from another piece of covered cardstock and backed with gold foil for accent. A thin srip of gold also was added to the front. I really like this and think a set of these with different sentiments wouls make a great gift.

It has been awhile since my last post! I have not stopped creating, just slowed down in posting! Life just seemed to get in the way. As a family, we have had a lot going on. But I have been in the mood to make Christmas cards and have a few to share.<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3nAfgcpeCbAj5LAQV4fuXKmvLo7j-Lr3q4sKNK7DaUg_1KR7QchKVYZ-FtV3zXdBAjueJTV0rFRimWX6yJMzbqGVLGCENVgcYH03jCrDHnjNgorF9ibl9425NczTCuNR0ydgZutJpd6Cy3M1YNsGQMssJFHC_uKYo1hTZVJevS8N8CukxIkvI0yrMZg/s1889/02127E66-33B3-43C4-9289-E5990CC0B08F.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1889" data-original-width="1879" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3nAfgcpeCbAj5LAQV4fuXKmvLo7j-Lr3q4sKNK7DaUg_1KR7QchKVYZ-FtV3zXdBAjueJTV0rFRimWX6yJMzbqGVLGCENVgcYH03jCrDHnjNgorF9ibl9425NczTCuNR0ydgZutJpd6Cy3M1YNsGQMssJFHC_uKYo1hTZVJevS8N8CukxIkvI0yrMZg/w398-h400/02127E66-33B3-43C4-9289-E5990CC0B08F.jpeg" width="398" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"></td></tr></tbody></table>I chose non traditional colors for these cards but like them both. The pink card uses a technique from the recent online class from J. McGuire and K. Werner. It really didn’t take long to make and I am pleased with the result. The blue card used a new to me embossing folder that I picked up on clearance from a local box store. Again, I am pleased with the result. After this was completed, I dry embossed the piece using the <b><i>Organic Linen</i></b> <b><i>Embossing Folder.</i></b> Using a finger dauber, I inked various areas with Versa Mark Embossing Ink, applied <b><i>Rose Gold Embossing Powder </i></b>and heat set it. I cut this piece down to leave a space for my partial sentiment and heat embossed this on my card front using the same embossing powder. My card is made from the <b><i>Spicy Yogurt card stock.</i></b> This is a card stock everyone should try! I cut the <b><i>Happy</i></b> <b><i>Die </i></b>once from some brushed gold cardstock and twice from white card stock. These were glued together for dimension and then attached to my card front. Ink blend brown ink or ink of your choice over the whole panel.</p><p>4. Emboss again with the same embossing folder. It is easy to line it up.</p><p>5. Attach to a folded card.</p><p>6. I hope everyone is having a great day and looking forward to your weekend. I recently completed my journey into the Altenew world and am now a certified educator. This program is fantastic for those wanting to improve their card making skills and techniques.</p><p>Today's post is using a new to me technique-hot foiling. I must say, I am hooked.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizL4ckTLWMSAzkN0epOU06PQ4ZM43Gb97Y5-WGf8YIinDtAwiCHmW59kpBgdqBHkB76vB5nLgvUcSsnJPTEYdbJkiQ8JgV4_hsSPuVGHXS6QGcWqXtusCGOBiKdGkVNdN542bZxwgrJ791xHbSFATannOsLsvYoukqcBkoBTv8msG5W5IbzvbEfxJQzg/s3297/IMG_E2155.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3297" data-original-width="2530" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizL4ckTLWMSAzkN0epOU06PQ4ZM43Gb97Y5-WGf8YIinDtAwiCHmW59kpBgdqBHkB76vB5nLgvUcSsnJPTEYdbJkiQ8JgV4_hsSPuVGHXS6QGcWqXtusCGOBiKdGkVNdN542bZxwgrJ791xHbSFATannOsLsvYoukqcBkoBTv8msG5W5IbzvbEfxJQzg/w308-h400/IMG_E2155.JPG" width="308" /></a></div><br /><p>This card turned out prettier than I imagined! I hot foiled the Altenew Eucalyptus Wreath onto white cardstock using silver foil. I then used the matching stencil to color in the leaves using Sweet Leaf and Aqualicious Altenew inks. The sentiment is from the Enjoy Life stamp set. It is heat embossed with silver embossing powder. To finish the card, I add a few sequins and gems.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisNSzxx1udor6Trb4B8KPmZ9gb7ii9qo-dXBxnu4RB-piZdfXId7ZDi47ZIk4XDKdXFl9oJAT6yKPtgoCPEFVgDbEwhYQw2U_lFVPPJ2-rTZzHrzz4FZ8JigAckVxeuE_2Tjg71c5G_WrZT-F-5W5hpvw1XOxbtIzXBy3XDmGdccZuvTAnnXrCj4GAtg/s2162/IMG_E2159.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2162" data-original-width="1986" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisNSzxx1udor6Trb4B8KPmZ9gb7ii9qo-dXBxnu4RB-piZdfXId7ZDi47ZIk4XDKdXFl9oJAT6yKPtgoCPEFVgDbEwhYQw2U_lFVPPJ2-rTZzHrzz4FZ8JigAckVxeuE_2Tjg71c5G_WrZT-F-5W5hpvw1XOxbtIzXBy3XDmGdccZuvTAnnXrCj4GAtg/w368-h400/IMG_E2159.JPG" width="368" /></a></div><br /><p>The above card was hot foiled using gold foil and the Autumn Leaf Border plate from Spellbinders. All of the sentiments are from the Enjoy Life stamp set from Altenew and heat embossed using gold embossing powder. This set has lots of great sentiments. I colored the leaves using various Altenew Artist Markers in green shades. I added a few gold gems, trimmed the edge, attached a strip of matching cardstock and that's it.</p><p>Both of these cards came together quickly and turned out beautifully! </p><p>Happy Stamping!</p>vickiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04857948014289273983noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5303237308608293728.post-56611898987827010812022-06-10T09:44:00.001-06:002022-06-10T09:44:13.255-06:00June Altenew Challenge<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_5QNBl6PTSM7XRV4X51TNywy2gq6QinD158LlouHJUOogNgBkcuutZfx8AirbIhzlgbPRwdAGTL-UDVPM_I2WaZwhZtLJHgy5fUHX1nAoirnBXv0YLH9gzI2fe2JUMIw7ebOcc3HnksTKo6MFpBwIJzEqYaFQA6-n-eAhmu6LHpapmcbFUXvmwkv9JA/s300/A3DEEBCD-B1C5-4D20-80F4-9EA4653483CD.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="300" data-original-width="300" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_5QNBl6PTSM7XRV4X51TNywy2gq6QinD158LlouHJUOogNgBkcuutZfx8AirbIhzlgbPRwdAGTL-UDVPM_I2WaZwhZtLJHgy5fUHX1nAoirnBXv0YLH9gzI2fe2JUMIw7ebOcc3HnksTKo6MFpBwIJzEqYaFQA6-n-eAhmu6LHpapmcbFUXvmwkv9JA/s1600/A3DEEBCD-B1C5-4D20-80F4-9EA4653483CD.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I am participating in the Altenew Challenge this month. It has been awhile since my last post. Every day life sometimes gets in the way of crafting time, but today's post is a very special one for me. I recently completed all of my Level 3 courses in the Altenew Educator Certification Program. This journey was an excellent way to gain knowledge about different techniques and learn new ways to stretch my crafting supplies. As my final challenge of the program, I held an in-person workshop with four of my friends. After ironing out a few technical glitches, Virginia joined us virtually. Each in person participant made 3 cards using what I like to call the triple A Technique: Alcohol Markers, Alcohol and Aluminum Foil. I originally called it the A & A Technique but then realized I used three items beginning with A. </p><p>We began by attaching aluminum foil to a piece of 8 1/2" x 11" lightweight cardstock using double sided adhesive sheets. It is best to use lightweight cardstock as you will add some thickness with the foil. You can apply the foil with your hands or a brayer. AND wrinkles are fine, they just add unique texture and interest.</p><p>After applying the foil, we cut it into 3 pieces measuring 5" x 3 3/4 ". Each of these pieces were used in different ways to make 3 cards. One piece was colored in your choice of either a single or multiple colors. The next piece was colored in a green of your choice and cut with a die. The third was colored in a Christmas green of your choice, embossed and cut into 2 pieces at an angle. Some extra steps were added to this piece for added shine.</p><p>I was surprised to learn that no one in the class had worked with alcohol markers before, so we had a short session on how they worked. Below is a picture of one of the foil pieces before getting spritzed.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6XlfsGzX8ay2L2FJNjFl-Zr7QxUnApyJQZPhuSi8f8CWoiPxYBfS5OmzqqJnGr5dvWvO-F2vokkz80gagpavL3YTvyF25riKcvGSVxtz3lRAzkz2FYNHvklmquAmIrVZdYnwdtpjtKG6iWFSOZp6BQB-W-PIxpNND7jpvjul9rZjy2tDG2ViOmwFcVA/s4032/IMG_2066%20(1).JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6XlfsGzX8ay2L2FJNjFl-Zr7QxUnApyJQZPhuSi8f8CWoiPxYBfS5OmzqqJnGr5dvWvO-F2vokkz80gagpavL3YTvyF25riKcvGSVxtz3lRAzkz2FYNHvklmquAmIrVZdYnwdtpjtKG6iWFSOZp6BQB-W-PIxpNND7jpvjul9rZjy2tDG2ViOmwFcVA/w300-h400/IMG_2066%20(1).JPG" width="300" /></a></div><br /><p>After we colored the pieces with alcohol markers, we spritzed each piece with 90% rubbing alcohol. Below is the result of one of the pieces after spritzing. Be sure to work in a well ventilated area to lessen any fumes. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXj8F90YMFGlMrlmKoeKN_hW39G2HrCzRdNnX3pAS-jDDNRGO9xVejZg4AjSdozNHHlTz4l0OiLOmypnhha1W8dE3jRuKzygb2k-YPsstKJsDfbgjisiRcI62hUXZU-RAiEULR16oys1fSQTHbr4zXB2JzeZbwIo1ixDY8kzDrtw4VXSzvAps_5G8Nig/s2177/IMG_E2067%20(1).JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2177" data-original-width="1471" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXj8F90YMFGlMrlmKoeKN_hW39G2HrCzRdNnX3pAS-jDDNRGO9xVejZg4AjSdozNHHlTz4l0OiLOmypnhha1W8dE3jRuKzygb2k-YPsstKJsDfbgjisiRcI62hUXZU-RAiEULR16oys1fSQTHbr4zXB2JzeZbwIo1ixDY8kzDrtw4VXSzvAps_5G8Nig/w270-h400/IMG_E2067%20(1).JPG" width="270" /></a><br /><p>As you can see, this piece above has lots of unique texture due to the creases in the foil and the alcohol spritzing. If you hold the spritzer bottle close to the art piece, the mist will make larger splotches. The farther away the spritzer bottle is from the foil, the finer the mist and therefore the smaller the areas of splotching. This characteristic gives you plenty of opportunity to experiment. There is no right or wrong resulting pattern, each is unique in the way it's made. For example, notice the following piece.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDUuVGQIkhMKT19jsMJ867Fnr3CLmiIl2Iioap-qkvdhXbgcLYK0QuyoAipT__QRthcVk30sO_YOfPF6-jkH2Pi999_hZJPNmv0zS3s4UN5i32Z9Q5CA30mzEEIDN_zYhmIeErZa49lqTnCrPuXPzAMISnpHS4yxmEotvQWshLrGmIJKKlyUardwX73w/s4032/IMG_2121.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDUuVGQIkhMKT19jsMJ867Fnr3CLmiIl2Iioap-qkvdhXbgcLYK0QuyoAipT__QRthcVk30sO_YOfPF6-jkH2Pi999_hZJPNmv0zS3s4UN5i32Z9Q5CA30mzEEIDN_zYhmIeErZa49lqTnCrPuXPzAMISnpHS4yxmEotvQWshLrGmIJKKlyUardwX73w/w300-h400/IMG_2121.JPG" width="300" /></a></div><br /><p>Above is a picture demonstrating how the markers react with a large amount of alcohol. This piece created by one of the participants turned out to be one of my favorites!</p><p>For the first card, we placed our foiled piece (after it was dry) into an embossing folder, backed it with a piece of black cardstock and then attached our sentiment. Following is a photo of two examples of the first card. Stay tuned until the end for each participant's unique take on all three card projects. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxW5zcQPcwXbPjHnUUm-wMD6ArjH98MXiN_mCcWcu1mf6nmEqsMI3O8J4yxRw7DXYBpyl6-kI31H1YbFduRKYueDYDsBdsfWkWSXFq0SqS1wGr6FsgDczjCqXhT1AXixRyGZSSidB5GhzMVk6nq3ATyNl8ILivwNFvZoUXkV5iG4EnwGiUzLCC8UNpMg/s1818/IMG_E0155.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1818" data-original-width="1792" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxW5zcQPcwXbPjHnUUm-wMD6ArjH98MXiN_mCcWcu1mf6nmEqsMI3O8J4yxRw7DXYBpyl6-kI31H1YbFduRKYueDYDsBdsfWkWSXFq0SqS1wGr6FsgDczjCqXhT1AXixRyGZSSidB5GhzMVk6nq3ATyNl8ILivwNFvZoUXkV5iG4EnwGiUzLCC8UNpMg/w394-h400/IMG_E0155.JPG" width="394" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p>As a tip, before adhering the foiled piece to the solid cardstock, cut a frame from the center for the sentiment. This saves on your cardstock and no one will ever know. This is a good way to stretch your supplies. The Geo Diamonds and Illusion Triangle 3D embossing folders were used for these cards. The sentiment is from the Smiles and Hugs set. This set appears to be a feminine set, but takes on a masculine feel on this card. Again, another way to stretch your supplies. If your foiled piece is not completely dry and the marker transfers ink onto your folder, just clean the folder with a spritz of alcohol and a dry cloth.</p><p>Our next project was a mini slimline card. No one in class had ever made this size, nor had they ever used a Misti or layering stamps. No worries, it presented the opportunity for another quick introduction session. It was so enjoyable to hear the oohs and aahs after each one finished stamping! </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYaPRSQw5570ANt2t9gN3hTB-u7TO9AWa-JREy3q1EzrXmH-4wjLzrkvEERCRAOP9C5cXmMoZtao9FaD97Td42iC_hfpwYXZ9fTFRdhbjwU-buCJRX52HizKBoKkVoA8ESMkADpURA5wlbb9N8E6woSZlD87mvSxQrq8ZWZMYcplvhEcqVRHq-EMds_Q/s1449/IMG_E0156.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1449" data-original-width="1394" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYaPRSQw5570ANt2t9gN3hTB-u7TO9AWa-JREy3q1EzrXmH-4wjLzrkvEERCRAOP9C5cXmMoZtao9FaD97Td42iC_hfpwYXZ9fTFRdhbjwU-buCJRX52HizKBoKkVoA8ESMkADpURA5wlbb9N8E6woSZlD87mvSxQrq8ZWZMYcplvhEcqVRHq-EMds_Q/w385-h400/IMG_E0156.JPG" width="385" /></a></div><br /><p>The sample above has a green frame, but for class I chose black as I wasn't sure which shade of green the participants would choose. They also chose Coral Bliss and Vineyard Berry ink colors for the Poppy layers. The center piece was debossed for added texture. The foiled leaf was cut using one of the leaves in the Just Leaves Die set, one of my favorites from Altenew. If you look closely, you can see the different shades of green in the leaves, which adds depth and interest to the project.</p><p>Our last card was slightly more involved and everyone's first Christmas card for this year. This sample demonstrates that you can use a slimline embossing folder to make an A2 card. </p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0W-AoioIYK91KOk7biKa7tX4rYs1Nb1P1iWOVEjU7JOBZ-Jqty5saMhoZEkHf7igMdLPieQBUbToLvPil1kVx5f9zQQDxuZMq2i9wk1wMS8_HkwtGX2UwanarSBArW4R3KzUIR4-LneFEzi419F7LWx9uzolhaLcHpsizcDeKjSGc-nS2MsSv3xC55Q/s1792/IMG_E0157.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1792" data-original-width="1659" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0W-AoioIYK91KOk7biKa7tX4rYs1Nb1P1iWOVEjU7JOBZ-Jqty5saMhoZEkHf7igMdLPieQBUbToLvPil1kVx5f9zQQDxuZMq2i9wk1wMS8_HkwtGX2UwanarSBArW4R3KzUIR4-LneFEzi419F7LWx9uzolhaLcHpsizcDeKjSGc-nS2MsSv3xC55Q/w370-h400/IMG_E0157.JPG" width="370" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div>This picture does not capture all of the shine and texture on this card. After coloring, spritzing and drying our foiled piece, we used the Classic Pinecones 3D embossing folder to dry emboss. NOTE: We then used a disposable eye shadow applicator dipped in alcohol to remove the ink from the pinecones. After this dried, we applied embossing ink using a VersaMark pen, applied gold embossing powder and then heat embossed our piece. After drying completely, we cut our piece at an angle for the card front. No one wanted to cut their work at first, but they were all good sports and did it with great results! The picture below is a panel before the gold heat embossing and cutting step.<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbLIHpjbXUGNKg725Ufg6M5CWUKg1s6DVGfLWMSdp40Cb4EZUnDr52pEaRAtoFmmetZ3vaDAxtWvtZ2I9C64ARUrYth7fg7Thq062f7zwVhMKOQhwgk7Bk5cg9S2P0xLSZ9kSaHlve3CHQtFBCk0RoNPupiuFsAng2Gj3hGuxqKA-dhKkC523CykqtlA/s4032/IMG_2122.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbLIHpjbXUGNKg725Ufg6M5CWUKg1s6DVGfLWMSdp40Cb4EZUnDr52pEaRAtoFmmetZ3vaDAxtWvtZ2I9C64ARUrYth7fg7Thq062f7zwVhMKOQhwgk7Bk5cg9S2P0xLSZ9kSaHlve3CHQtFBCk0RoNPupiuFsAng2Gj3hGuxqKA-dhKkC523CykqtlA/s320/IMG_2122.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p>After the foiled and embossed piece was cut, we placed it on a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of white cardstock, matching the top and bottom edges. NOTE: The gap was marked lightly with pencil and this was used as a guide for our sentiment. The lateral edges of the white cardstock were dipped in the VersaMark ink pad and gold heat embossed. Be sure to heat emboss both sides of the cardstock as the embossing powder is on both sides. Then the sentiment was stamped and heat embossed using the same gold embossing powder. Pencil marks were erased and the foiled piece was then adhered to the white cardstock and then this was adhered to the A2 card.</p><p>On a personal note, I truly missed in-person stamping with friends during the pandemic and hope to resume this fun and enriching gathering. Here are each participant's wonderful creations!!!</p><p>Below are Robin's creations. She is the only one who chose to add a few gems to her card. She left a few areas of her pinecones with the silver showing through which just adds to all that gold even more!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhccKqjEhwiYUsWuAQ1yZvw2Fj1zDuE6Tavc5-g706e3K7kINdPYQAhw1F3mA450zuwfVllwX91MWlK_kUnz0Vuu1IQyWCcEaF4n6ZEzOS38ETby8GZNjuFVOoQprgTA4IXDZrTKPShE_1rAf851vWdT-Hyw4sTRm7xQWjb7s5dveB1BC9q6Ik-vvEkCA/s3351/IMG_E2123.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1659" data-original-width="3351" height="198" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhccKqjEhwiYUsWuAQ1yZvw2Fj1zDuE6Tavc5-g706e3K7kINdPYQAhw1F3mA450zuwfVllwX91MWlK_kUnz0Vuu1IQyWCcEaF4n6ZEzOS38ETby8GZNjuFVOoQprgTA4IXDZrTKPShE_1rAf851vWdT-Hyw4sTRm7xQWjb7s5dveB1BC9q6Ik-vvEkCA/w400-h198/IMG_E2123.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>The samples below are Karon's creations. Many, many thanks to her! She is an amazing talent as well as a terrific lady! We all made different projects using many brands of paper as well as different stamps. Below are just a few of my finished cards using my images made during the class. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjAuuOpXgvKj4EWrYETAdwMm4lrrcPp1OiyUOxT_R4VQaHgMhf1w2O6wke17tQ2kP_P492Wnhgp3UxSK5l9cC7gCYsgy9EDwVFNeW55BOalqVd4XHl9lNkYmMWDziiwU-OBj7JgnZyVBP5-gzxJ49xRwgn54fIZV8y_tMmAfcJZnGKTdJYxQixY1ZgtuA=s2103" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2052" data-original-width="2103" height="390" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjAuuOpXgvKj4EWrYETAdwMm4lrrcPp1OiyUOxT_R4VQaHgMhf1w2O6wke17tQ2kP_P492Wnhgp3UxSK5l9cC7gCYsgy9EDwVFNeW55BOalqVd4XHl9lNkYmMWDziiwU-OBj7JgnZyVBP5-gzxJ49xRwgn54fIZV8y_tMmAfcJZnGKTdJYxQixY1ZgtuA=w400-h390" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>This technique is fun but unpredictable as you never know how your cardstock will react with the bleach,</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEj7MOZ4_KrjtXxkaBoBZnCi0ybiZa9Imulhysln5GyrHhhHkqo710EDFEtUNGNskKu0jont8qfkMu3PvQtm49D_0o7IXgbOAhO_h4y58twHnDrEkS0t9syQ8q-tkWEN-m_tFmsRfBv3PZ70NIhF9P6Gfp702U6q_8qslTbgUX6jRP1sVQ49dDF7lDz_vQ=s2152" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2152" data-original-width="1955" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEj7MOZ4_KrjtXxkaBoBZnCi0ybiZa9Imulhysln5GyrHhhHkqo710EDFEtUNGNskKu0jont8qfkMu3PvQtm49D_0o7IXgbOAhO_h4y58twHnDrEkS0t9syQ8q-tkWEN-m_tFmsRfBv3PZ70NIhF9P6Gfp702U6q_8qslTbgUX6jRP1sVQ49dDF7lDz_vQ=w364-h400" width="364" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhOZMJ4LRrx-qKVqT9fvCH-45WviIEr43IZfMaFRv8QDN83YHFob772KFPIC6ll7Jr0kBAuXCD5bU_nQbE9yLFEDZZEK_2Im92DWg7afHjtHQI7Oiq_euQxeP1MWTULePX6Aq3JtzgcOe3nkDtK3kOonIJ62X04wUbjkYem_Yby-VWa2XpHAVO1e0Od1w=s2250" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2163" data-original-width="2250" height="385" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhOZMJ4LRrx-qKVqT9fvCH-45WviIEr43IZfMaFRv8QDN83YHFob772KFPIC6ll7Jr0kBAuXCD5bU_nQbE9yLFEDZZEK_2Im92DWg7afHjtHQI7Oiq_euQxeP1MWTULePX6Aq3JtzgcOe3nkDtK3kOonIJ62X04wUbjkYem_Yby-VWa2XpHAVO1e0Od1w=w400-h385" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>Each cardstock reacted differently but I think all turned out well. I gold heat embossed this stamp onto vellum several week ago and never did anything else with it. As I was cleaning my craft space, I found it and decided to make a card.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgHmeSBSaSKt74XIZeM51wOIYSmRXeu8JL992QdpAuadJ-8tBiJu6ixXSi_9BprVeCsx4N00HydwOj0ZLx9aQySJyl3akH3k--jBhusX1uchQFjfKZH8CW5uB0xwbcV-O3VhlisQL7BrV_3MrgvzkehpKV6h7ACvY9dd7QttgwVChhxoerUIrpSoGycaA=s3821" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3821" data-original-width="2893" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgHmeSBSaSKt74XIZeM51wOIYSmRXeu8JL992QdpAuadJ-8tBiJu6ixXSi_9BprVeCsx4N00HydwOj0ZLx9aQySJyl3akH3k--jBhusX1uchQFjfKZH8CW5uB0xwbcV-O3VhlisQL7BrV_3MrgvzkehpKV6h7ACvY9dd7QttgwVChhxoerUIrpSoGycaA=w303-h400" width="303" /></a></div><br /><p>I colored the images on the BACK of the vellum with water based markers and then adhered my vellum to double sided adhesive. After die cutting the image, I adhered it to my cardfront. To make the card front, I applied a wash of matching ink and water to an A2 sized white cardstock, dry embossed it with one of my embossing folders and then applied Altenew Enchanted Gold Pigment Ink with a dauber to random areas. I also applied it to the sentiment after die cutting it. I trimmed the protruding petals from the blooms and adhered them to the cardfront as well.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhsAx62NvFtQYRIL1ktoYoJTPbfubikJvOGk1IhngkPLEPNI-6bZo-B9cXZy6t-16KSdrOJgeC7aHBYHO027CCcYT50s74LFHUbC8l3djwsPgXVKkIXvCBtKGd2CaxykiNQlOdcQxk8Rd2aLyZF2gkTUyox3o14pFNSSG9eEf7jz3Hxx63_ZjMri0Fseg=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhsAx62NvFtQYRIL1ktoYoJTPbfubikJvOGk1IhngkPLEPNI-6bZo-B9cXZy6t-16KSdrOJgeC7aHBYHO027CCcYT50s74LFHUbC8l3djwsPgXVKkIXvCBtKGd2CaxykiNQlOdcQxk8Rd2aLyZF2gkTUyox3o14pFNSSG9eEf7jz3Hxx63_ZjMri0Fseg=w300-h400" width="300" /></a></div><br /><p>I am very pleased with how this card turned out. I hope you are having a great day. I recently completed another Altenew class and really found this one fascinating. The instructor, Jaycee Gaspar, researched different tattoo techniques and transferred them into card making techniques. Not only did I pick up a few card making techniques, I learned a little about tattooing. I will note the tattoo technique that inspired each card as we move along.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhann0wYgNvCRjqf6QeYi7Q8ygY38Iul-_wiMBiZn0jNMGqgZfdp3zf_d1sG_t4lH8H3f5WTZfjQhYiYcl2ReJl5fXiHa6bQ_9yttyzoHloVavsWKzu686CewUo20aLReKXfuqADKWMjv1q2no9JGyRDqtMWxTmlfmRwuP5yJciMsMKXKbatfX3c73kQA=s2893" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2893" data-original-width="2394" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhann0wYgNvCRjqf6QeYi7Q8ygY38Iul-_wiMBiZn0jNMGqgZfdp3zf_d1sG_t4lH8H3f5WTZfjQhYiYcl2ReJl5fXiHa6bQ_9yttyzoHloVavsWKzu686CewUo20aLReKXfuqADKWMjv1q2no9JGyRDqtMWxTmlfmRwuP5yJciMsMKXKbatfX3c73kQA=w331-h400" width="331" /></a></div><br /><p>The above card was inspired by the tattoo technique called Trash Polka. I was so intrigued by this that I actually googled several tattoo images-give it a try yourself. I found some truly beautiful artwork. All images were stamped onto a sand colored cardstock from my stash and then adhered to a white A2 card. The background was partially stenciled using black ink and the <i>Woven Stencil</i>. The circles were stamped in red and the image is from a bicycle stamp in my stash. I also added black splatters. The blooms are from the <i>Wallpaper Art</i> set (one of my favorites) and the leaves are from the <i>Darling Rose</i> set. The sentiment is from the Halftone Happy set. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEh8E4KPVA1UpDQCYiwBmXu6ug80izq4ldMfwBwW_F_JrLlgYzaGxyHmbzQgdUeskNsq6MA54PtQQ5gDyCpk-ysGWRolwwPRBGJb_YcCwSScWvL-6MxilXqcTp6QF4Bjmg4bzMnn-GF4kBmeqrWEOml6-TuvgG8yqb49yc98GFvitvFuSG6xpTilQx4L9A=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEh8E4KPVA1UpDQCYiwBmXu6ug80izq4ldMfwBwW_F_JrLlgYzaGxyHmbzQgdUeskNsq6MA54PtQQ5gDyCpk-ysGWRolwwPRBGJb_YcCwSScWvL-6MxilXqcTp6QF4Bjmg4bzMnn-GF4kBmeqrWEOml6-TuvgG8yqb49yc98GFvitvFuSG6xpTilQx4L9A=w300-h400" width="300" /></a></div><br /><p>Here is a close up of the flower. I did rough up the edges of my background and lightly ink blend the edges in black to add to the organic feel of the card.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiymZf3X_0uL7ewRMaw8lDMldmCvIAb1C4yc88Brcl5YBZqdWKCUoG27wesNFpdtqcknzgKuPeCHkCr_QtHcEpWRS2jSGlmMPa1f3ZcSStdzqEq9B2wR2SPzI7ECe2jJrKbn6ued5p900TrJnYEX8ufMDYZl9wHnEbvXoH0hg_DWn3R7RB9xYBABpj-JQ=s3075" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3075" data-original-width="2610" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiymZf3X_0uL7ewRMaw8lDMldmCvIAb1C4yc88Brcl5YBZqdWKCUoG27wesNFpdtqcknzgKuPeCHkCr_QtHcEpWRS2jSGlmMPa1f3ZcSStdzqEq9B2wR2SPzI7ECe2jJrKbn6ued5p900TrJnYEX8ufMDYZl9wHnEbvXoH0hg_DWn3R7RB9xYBABpj-JQ=w340-h400" width="340" /></a></div><br /><p>This card utilizes the Loose Watercolor Technique. After stamping and heat embossing the butterflies from the <i>Painted Butterflies</i> set in black onto watercolor paper, I wet specific areas and scraped dry pigment from the <i>12 color pan watercolor set</i> onto the wet areas. I did move some of the pigment around with a wet brush. I used the same method on another piece of watercolor paper, then stamped and heat embossed the word happy and the sentiment from the<i> Halftone Happy</i> set. The background is dry embossed using the <i>3D Cloudy Day Embossing Folder.</i> The clouds were enhanced by adding highlights with white craft ink.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjNHp7NligkvNzk1BGiK_dNhjAHR9L7KKwchzKwqWd5sd7C5JSyZ-hmy3RGEcVouFVRJB36fPUyGg8FBkAoqoUBByk2IeBRe34XOyXX-1OykmEDLCYxna5otc1J9Vl4IOZy_6df1e2mLuOVRRQSxdMNCIaPsa9rOiNImFeWwnbcGlYMcw9Dmm8HXrdNNQ=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjNHp7NligkvNzk1BGiK_dNhjAHR9L7KKwchzKwqWd5sd7C5JSyZ-hmy3RGEcVouFVRJB36fPUyGg8FBkAoqoUBByk2IeBRe34XOyXX-1OykmEDLCYxna5otc1J9Vl4IOZy_6df1e2mLuOVRRQSxdMNCIaPsa9rOiNImFeWwnbcGlYMcw9Dmm8HXrdNNQ=w300-h400" width="300" /></a></div><br /><p>I hope you can see the pigment in the enlargement. Another great class was just completed. If you have ever considered taking one of <i>Altenew</i>'s many classes, I encourage you to do it. This class focused on using dies and not stamps. My plan was to make cards with minimal or no stamping-just using dies. Let's get started.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgwg-ALooWow179upnqU_aONGR3le0TA0TJ9QIqQVyf4-Ai28Gh3vIJ2BxCEDLBuRXtqZsY2LNsyaZSuaUjOnHvthaQCr0EAGbZQEFWixeW_Cd0b9EV5Mu_6IIz7l1f9tkMebqMb8ENiw6psHEqN5yYxd3WanKbNrsYtfbsLXCL2AnysKdeQM15pI64Bg=s2447" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2447" data-original-width="2153" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgwg-ALooWow179upnqU_aONGR3le0TA0TJ9QIqQVyf4-Ai28Gh3vIJ2BxCEDLBuRXtqZsY2LNsyaZSuaUjOnHvthaQCr0EAGbZQEFWixeW_Cd0b9EV5Mu_6IIz7l1f9tkMebqMb8ENiw6psHEqN5yYxd3WanKbNrsYtfbsLXCL2AnysKdeQM15pI64Bg=w353-h400" width="353" /></a></div><br /><p>I started this card by cutting the <i>Floral In-N-Out Border die</i> from masking paper and adhering it to my card front. I then used <i>Altenew Alcohol Markers R301, R206, R403 and G702</i> to color through the openings in the die. I then removed the masking paper and touched up a few areas. After using the same die to cut another out of black cardstock, I adhered it to my card front. The strip along the left side and the sentiment are cut from <i>Dazzling Diamond cardstock</i>. The sentiment is from the dies for the <i>Majestic Bloom set</i>. A few crystal gems are added for a tiny bit of bling. I also rounded my top and bottom edges on the right side.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgPjb63tYeemoPxpsKevMAzMRFqLnv_iqD_bo1vmUl0NWgHk-KgBJv80CT_ggnlbVV4ZCgMw5L6Pi50fiufVqo_bnB-_yY0pd5DFL-Mk5eZzB_ihSedrhNWHxJj7_lz1wJD1BV_jDBZkyLz2SfM56bm6bNEtB_3FkJHvf_O0VwhAf97vtGAbT4RDp9_aw=s2609" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2255" data-original-width="2609" height="346" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgPjb63tYeemoPxpsKevMAzMRFqLnv_iqD_bo1vmUl0NWgHk-KgBJv80CT_ggnlbVV4ZCgMw5L6Pi50fiufVqo_bnB-_yY0pd5DFL-Mk5eZzB_ihSedrhNWHxJj7_lz1wJD1BV_jDBZkyLz2SfM56bm6bNEtB_3FkJHvf_O0VwhAf97vtGAbT4RDp9_aw=w400-h346" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>With Valentines Day close, we all could use "love" cards. I will have to admit, this card got a little messy! After cutting the hearts and the <i>You Are Loved</i> from heavy white cardstock, I covered them with VersaMark ink. I then added Red, Black and Silver embossing powders in random order and heat set. I then added 2 more layers of cardstock to my sentiment. I had a cover plate in my stash to make the pierced heart background. After adhering my pieces to the pierced background, I attached it to a red A2cardfront.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgFu1lPcq-FchvFSTXsBMUiGxws5Qo6G2cogw4d3cc3tqEd4bo8dpqTd7uzuyn_MrAgXxhEmK-LpG23nJI3pZ_t8Ei4Lg97yWiYSlqDBmj2pXHqDdVlqWjyoiFBDkYFYAwG0zEQlBuX-3nYFlZ-8ej4l_XhWuCRR_vipNS2UJeduva1UyJEc2egiYKt8A=s2260" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2260" data-original-width="1975" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgFu1lPcq-FchvFSTXsBMUiGxws5Qo6G2cogw4d3cc3tqEd4bo8dpqTd7uzuyn_MrAgXxhEmK-LpG23nJI3pZ_t8Ei4Lg97yWiYSlqDBmj2pXHqDdVlqWjyoiFBDkYFYAwG0zEQlBuX-3nYFlZ-8ej4l_XhWuCRR_vipNS2UJeduva1UyJEc2egiYKt8A=w350-h400" width="350" /></a></div><br /><p>This card can be completed in about 10 minutes and is one of my favorites! I looked through my scrap stash (we all have them) and found some bright, coordinating colors. I then used the <i>Waterbrush Hello</i> die on each piece. I adhered them to my cardfront and then used the <i>Mod Squares 3D Embossing</i> <i>Folder</i> for dimension. After this was done, I ran the <i>Antique Gold Pigment Ink Pad</i> over the card lightly. This card is one that can be used for a wide variety of ages. </p><p>This post was short but these cards were a joy to create. Until next time-</p><p>Happy Stamping!</p>vickiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04857948014289273983noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5303237308608293728.post-77226384890359935622022-02-01T14:59:00.002-07:002022-02-01T14:59:45.591-07:00Altenew Craft Your Life Retreat-New Beginnings 2022<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgcBL3GmVC-bfg5SZlPiZQuUTvfPq1kvPk-j1m32Bl8T7Rfs4g7p8izyLutC_AUoYPtD-5vpOejIZw8UlRyc4DACBNv9eL7H7J7vwu-SIkv_8E5ULES4xO8wc9bg-XtmQPTOg01eRT7eJjKcbuHH9msQPswDD6NWl8FpXXeBAw7n35_khhz8IeP314t8A=s3264" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2448" data-original-width="3264" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgcBL3GmVC-bfg5SZlPiZQuUTvfPq1kvPk-j1m32Bl8T7Rfs4g7p8izyLutC_AUoYPtD-5vpOejIZw8UlRyc4DACBNv9eL7H7J7vwu-SIkv_8E5ULES4xO8wc9bg-XtmQPTOg01eRT7eJjKcbuHH9msQPswDD6NWl8FpXXeBAw7n35_khhz8IeP314t8A=w400-h300" width="400" /></a></div><br /> Have you ever seen a stamp set used in so many ways? If you have not taken advantage of Altenew's retreats you have been missing out! This was my first retreat but it won't be my last. I will list each class and show my samples. They are slightly different than the instructors but isn't that what crafting is all about?<p></p><p>Class1 was taught by Jaycee Gaspar who is a wonderful colorist of botanical illustrations. His control of watercolors is amazing, but that is for another day. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhUvOvNcKxuSVrJj2wSD1QGZlbBtqQ57hh8nP8V36oxFRqfd2A8n8P6MyarHtJOXKXoHcyU37oMLbEPKYW7A8S7PGpssqoJ2F_dFNMaJBZP6Mnr1RhEvr8h0XaTaEUpezroz0LVJFeMXohr2RxhVmGCuCb8EPYW3tDi6_xfXcjj7lFZoyEsoLXLt2cStA=s3264" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2448" data-original-width="3264" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhUvOvNcKxuSVrJj2wSD1QGZlbBtqQ57hh8nP8V36oxFRqfd2A8n8P6MyarHtJOXKXoHcyU37oMLbEPKYW7A8S7PGpssqoJ2F_dFNMaJBZP6Mnr1RhEvr8h0XaTaEUpezroz0LVJFeMXohr2RxhVmGCuCb8EPYW3tDi6_xfXcjj7lFZoyEsoLXLt2cStA=w400-h300" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>Class 2 focused on journaling and was taught by Bridget Casey. She is a ball of energy and is so full of ideas! I quit trying to write them all down. I haven't decided if I want to make a card or a journaling page with the sample on the left.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjKeLeHj0PKpy5y51q5-G2tqrf1CXBUxRcAVWo1f3_YbdA_fxs5DilNIcJWu9QuXJ1sR6d01pRW17ZA4YRXHdnrjDn2LBZSG-iTmjremT3bdhUVf_RtZNIRZJavg8oa_MiNH3wGICf_OrFBTij7UmAkJnwth2OOqjIetx7Fk-7TC-G174FXyco35GSelQ=s3264" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2448" data-original-width="3264" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjKeLeHj0PKpy5y51q5-G2tqrf1CXBUxRcAVWo1f3_YbdA_fxs5DilNIcJWu9QuXJ1sR6d01pRW17ZA4YRXHdnrjDn2LBZSG-iTmjremT3bdhUVf_RtZNIRZJavg8oa_MiNH3wGICf_OrFBTij7UmAkJnwth2OOqjIetx7Fk-7TC-G174FXyco35GSelQ=w400-h300" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>Class 3 was all about the backgrounds which are so hard to see in these photos. And we made a shaker element to the card as well.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgOLxb3a4Lg1xG8EyyyfXrxKnk09PS1-rixzMH5L2r5bv92ZLuB3mUCC80oIRIAiOwNAsfMIFz5nAJA3VN0Ngzi0grzYeSWvjkbJXihYJOnK9jyDBEeOh1enfgiv2HjLOIXiaa7VZ6UnDO8PfFukS4Mwaa6YYV03R1QoQuxUlmiWATlRJVXjY-9JRCQsw=s3109" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2336" data-original-width="3109" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgOLxb3a4Lg1xG8EyyyfXrxKnk09PS1-rixzMH5L2r5bv92ZLuB3mUCC80oIRIAiOwNAsfMIFz5nAJA3VN0Ngzi0grzYeSWvjkbJXihYJOnK9jyDBEeOh1enfgiv2HjLOIXiaa7VZ6UnDO8PfFukS4Mwaa6YYV03R1QoQuxUlmiWATlRJVXjY-9JRCQsw=w400-h300" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>I didn't go into detail for any of these cards. I so enjoyed this class and learned so much. This is a class that I will take over and over again. Erum is such a fantastic colorist. I hope to be half as good as she is one day. She is easy to follow and so intriguing to watch as her blossoms come to life before your eyes. This class is another one you must try from Altenew!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjnNumNndyk6S2GzhnULoPegXIJ25uLzG1vDqzyf-BvZldNtVg46KOTv1WpUNjYiEsrupfCYEf04_iMxU5Ej1tvoO6HO1v7Q_bh_0so5R84mAutb3XLTOaYt5Ik69KiN3mmGg8HAoeEE2TWOMzHAeXUWHp29HMJXjrgnViI_gu7_kATJXPFKUPrtY1bGg=s3268" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3268" data-original-width="2693" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjnNumNndyk6S2GzhnULoPegXIJ25uLzG1vDqzyf-BvZldNtVg46KOTv1WpUNjYiEsrupfCYEf04_iMxU5Ej1tvoO6HO1v7Q_bh_0so5R84mAutb3XLTOaYt5Ik69KiN3mmGg8HAoeEE2TWOMzHAeXUWHp29HMJXjrgnViI_gu7_kATJXPFKUPrtY1bGg=w330-h400" width="330" /></a></div><br /><p>This cards is more vibrant in person and uses the Stippling Technique and Drip Background Technique. I used the <i>Wallpaper Art </i>stamp set and the <i>12 Pan Watercolor Set</i>. After heat embossing my flowers and leaves in white onto watercolor paper, I followed Erum's instructions. I really like the way this card turned out and decided to leave off a sentiment to let the background shine.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhWLUuKjlDHTjPBAe6H718UPiFy_n-xJfI3HgBUBuAFC-KqeJ8c_xkYUzEWK1nCCCaOpZGWJnpL8aoYnNnNxAQ7a6WnLftCQzN8kGf2G_NQzexitlF6eU816ZH2xVEQpRBsEQN5TAiF28BAPzbp8FL_DbycfI7pTVClYbYlotyOY6Fe_4OYOO8zoJrc3w=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhWLUuKjlDHTjPBAe6H718UPiFy_n-xJfI3HgBUBuAFC-KqeJ8c_xkYUzEWK1nCCCaOpZGWJnpL8aoYnNnNxAQ7a6WnLftCQzN8kGf2G_NQzexitlF6eU816ZH2xVEQpRBsEQN5TAiF28BAPzbp8FL_DbycfI7pTVClYbYlotyOY6Fe_4OYOO8zoJrc3w=w300-h400" width="300" /></a></div><br /><p>My next card combines alcohol markers and layering stamping to achieve my desired shading. I have a very long way to go, but so enjoyed this class. I highly recommend it.</p><p>As I only have the <i>Essential Watercolor</i> set from Altenew, I only had 12 colors to choose from. This is a great starter set but I will soon be ordering the 36 pan set! I have a long way to go to improve my skills and envision many more practice sessions in my future. I will share a couple of my completed cards.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjLFUQwxJvb8kZEry49btdtlyV86ezuYmEfIocAf-hKhTyU7w5BeNRIvoY339roY-adxP4Lpj2eT-nM59x8lQDsKTCqiSuVHOzHJCTy9-WB5jRUmwPzc3RILjcoO3iEgobiJlqUtEQUtoktIdfkWNg9yhNO3TIbGUyjN_isDdtlHgaX2VpbmlMvQTRH6Q=s3322" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3322" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjLFUQwxJvb8kZEry49btdtlyV86ezuYmEfIocAf-hKhTyU7w5BeNRIvoY339roY-adxP4Lpj2eT-nM59x8lQDsKTCqiSuVHOzHJCTy9-WB5jRUmwPzc3RILjcoO3iEgobiJlqUtEQUtoktIdfkWNg9yhNO3TIbGUyjN_isDdtlHgaX2VpbmlMvQTRH6Q=w364-h400" width="364" /></a></div><br /><p>This image from the <i>Darling Rose</i> stamp set was stamped onto watercolor paper. I had a certain project in mind, but as I was decorating for Christmas, I found an old decoration and decided to make something to inspire me in my craft area. I don't have a craft room as such-my husband and I share our unfinished basement space for our hobbies. Here is the decoration I used.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjAPA8Cl_97qxxsN9IPek3TciKXJg1TRAdobq-YoGVSFWsRS79TT6kjmBSTUkuv1p319ZzP62riJ7hQiui4LR2dLzeUCMNaX22XXWUkRI3mnS8qfCR5ZEYzlk1CJHL2acqTn6b6IgJSLBknL4HvMt_2FyuD9G8n-1X8ad7ZYQbiMbnYyZE2LpR_C9GW1A=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjAPA8Cl_97qxxsN9IPek3TciKXJg1TRAdobq-YoGVSFWsRS79TT6kjmBSTUkuv1p319ZzP62riJ7hQiui4LR2dLzeUCMNaX22XXWUkRI3mnS8qfCR5ZEYzlk1CJHL2acqTn6b6IgJSLBknL4HvMt_2FyuD9G8n-1X8ad7ZYQbiMbnYyZE2LpR_C9GW1A=w300-h400" width="300" /></a></div><br /><p>I began by painting the interior white. I then heat embossed 2 of the flower images from <i>Vintage</i> <i>Garden</i> stamp set using <i>Rose Gold </i> Embossing powder onto watercolor paper. I adore this stamp set!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhK2Jd_lN8CH-yHNgOSvUNFPXxGwVMFrb_b0eWKRPNrkYnogUVRulMMEzRk5jfh1MPX7APPE13S2-o0JC0jtczcB-hOP3tC4XKFdxm8WRkUzsopGj-8oa2bDC0cxcd-0NfRQS2-obVnEcDra_zWs2ENS3c5W5JkKG1urdjGAqbgX5bazS_d6ilzXA2X-A=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhK2Jd_lN8CH-yHNgOSvUNFPXxGwVMFrb_b0eWKRPNrkYnogUVRulMMEzRk5jfh1MPX7APPE13S2-o0JC0jtczcB-hOP3tC4XKFdxm8WRkUzsopGj-8oa2bDC0cxcd-0NfRQS2-obVnEcDra_zWs2ENS3c5W5JkKG1urdjGAqbgX5bazS_d6ilzXA2X-A=w400-h300" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>Using the <i>Watercolor Essential 12 pan set</i>, I colored the stamped images. After letting them dry, I used the coordinating dies to cut them out. I also used 3 of the leaves in the set using the same technique.</p><p>For the background, I ink blended Stormy Sky and Tattered Rose Distress Oxide inks onto white cardstock. For added interest, I stamped a text background using <i>Silver Lake</i> ink. I wanted the sentiment to pop, so I used the same background technique on a separate piece of cardstock. I then stamped the sentiment, using gray and black inks to achieve a vintage look. After cutting the sentiment piece, I dipped the edges into Versa Mark ink and heat embossed them using <i>Rose Gold</i>. TIP-BE SURE TO HEAT FRONT AND BACK SIDES OF THE SENTIMENT PIECE. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEg3urKA-euUVBMhUd-xEjGMRuvLhD0IaRNE6gpvJp7erJ7IafhRninxPMfoyA0AcMZof8x7BtITOnAdURP6vjk3oacaCUHqXNHVELoBpct83fZjvCXr0mGQWiCmHbAHpnxsNxN5AH29OgXL5Iqir1oz13-7Nkq8tAcGv8yE9TDIwAnW2UzjuScz0Yk1eg=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEg3urKA-euUVBMhUd-xEjGMRuvLhD0IaRNE6gpvJp7erJ7IafhRninxPMfoyA0AcMZof8x7BtITOnAdURP6vjk3oacaCUHqXNHVELoBpct83fZjvCXr0mGQWiCmHbAHpnxsNxN5AH29OgXL5Iqir1oz13-7Nkq8tAcGv8yE9TDIwAnW2UzjuScz0Yk1eg=s320" width="240" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiiNDJs77dodD8Kw_lnVKEfA3uvP4l_Ahjdo7J5OAnjqiZj3LsmC_btPBXBWg6SozBZ0hnx7PDcW4rj1eD_95wk5e7XE5flkm4FP-KP5AF5SOHwlgNIW3TKv97g8pfdlps2cTuDRtRYsGYF4krVXAzbRt4V-pdLDe5YeU3PB8BeAken55jyiTFH60CGgQ=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; display: inline !important; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiiNDJs77dodD8Kw_lnVKEfA3uvP4l_Ahjdo7J5OAnjqiZj3LsmC_btPBXBWg6SozBZ0hnx7PDcW4rj1eD_95wk5e7XE5flkm4FP-KP5AF5SOHwlgNIW3TKv97g8pfdlps2cTuDRtRYsGYF4krVXAzbRt4V-pdLDe5YeU3PB8BeAken55jyiTFH60CGgQ=s320" width="240" /></a></div><p>I did cut one of the flower images and arranged them onto the stamped cardstock.
